Analogy Questions and Answers for Bank Exams

Analogy is an important topic in the bank exam. This topic belongs to the Reasoning. Three types of questions are asked from this topic in the examination, 1. Word analogy, 2. Symbolic analogy, and 3 Figure analogy.

Analogy Questions and Answers for Competitive Exams

Definition of Analogy:

Question-based on ‘Analogy’ are given in two groups. In the First group, two words letters/numbers/symbol are given having a common relationship between them and another group having a word/letter/number and symbol and a question mark. Candidates are required to determine the relation between the first group and substitute the question mark of the second group from the given alternative, which has the same relationship as the first group has.

In these questions, a particular relationship is given and another similar relationship has to identified from the given alternative.

Analogy has three types:

1. Semantic Analogy

2. Symbolic/Number Analogy

3. Figural Analogy

1. Semantic Analogy

Example.1. Reading: Knowledge :: Work:?

(C) Experience

(D) Experiment

Solution:

As, ‘Knowledge’ is acquired from the ‘Reading’ same as ‘Experience’ is acquired form the ‘work’.

2. Symbolic/Number Analogy

First design of first pair of question figures is inverted and then placed on the original to get the second figure of the pair. Similar, concept is used in second pair, mirror image means inverting and object laterally.
