As per the agreement information must be predictably relevant to the administration and enforcement of the domestic laws of the Contracting Parties concerning taxes covered by the agreement. Other features of the agreement include tax examination abroad and have specific provisions for providing banking and ownership information. It also says that the requesting state has to provide some minimum details about the information requested in order to justify the predictably relevant criteria.

In the wake of various controversies about film releases as well as their broadcast on television, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has set up a panel to examine issues regarding certification under the Cinematograph Act. The committee, which will submit its report within two months, will be chaired by retired Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal. The committee will suggest measures to equip the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deal with the increasing number of contemporary requirements of certification and increase in its transparency and efficiency. Some of the issues that the committee will look into include the process of certification under the Act as well as the mechanism followed by the examining and revising committees, categories of certification that exist as well as the ones that have been proposed in the Amendment Bill. It will also look into whether there is a requirement of special categories of certification for broadcasting of films on TV channels and radio stations.

Assam’s Computerisation of Registration (Panjeeyan) Project has earned laurels for the state. The Project has won the prestigious Gold Icon National Award by the Union department of administrative reforms and public grievances for 2012-13. The state-wide Computerisation of Registration (Panjeeyan) Project in Assam was implemented by the revenue and disaster management department with support of the finance department, under the Assam Governance and Public Resource Management Project (AGPRMP) funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Under the Project, all 75 sub-registrar offices across the state have been computerised replacing the earlier manual system of maintaining records and registers. The registration process carried out in sub-registrar offices is a means of recording documents like sale deed, mortgage, agreement, lease deed, power of attorney, will, etc., as provided for in the Registration Act, 1908. It confers a legal status to the document and provides a measure of security to the transaction and minimises scope of disputes.
