World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every year on 14 June. Its purpose is to make people aware about the need for safe blood and blood products. This time it is also the 20th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day. This year's slogan is "20 years of celebrating giving: thank you, blood donors!"

Praveen Kumar will be the next Managing Director (MD) of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. According to an order of the Government of India, Ajit Doval has been appointed as the National Security Advisor for the third term. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Doval's appointment from June 10. Doval is the longest serving NSA. Doval was first appointed to the post in the year 2014, his second term started in 2019 which ended on June 5.

The G7 (Group-7) summit is being held in Italy. The G7 is an intergovernmental political and economic forum, which includes France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The G7 was established in 1975. Russia was included in the G8 when it was created in the late 1990s, but it was suspended in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea.

Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) are researching multidrug-resistant pathogens on the International Space Station (ISS). The collaborative effort between IIT Madras and NASA's JPL will advance scientific knowledge and promote international partnerships.

The World Bank has recently released the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) in collaboration with S&P Global Market Intelligence. CPPI is based on a comprehensive dataset of 405 ports around the world, which is the largest dataset till date. Visakhapatnam Port Authority has secured 18th position in this ranking.

Recently, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named three new craters located within the Tharsis volcanic region on Mars after India's science community and Indian places. The largest crater has been named "Lal Crater" in honor of Professor Devendra Lal. Mursan Crater is named after the city of Mursan in Uttar Pradesh, India, while Hilsa Crater is named after the city of Hilsa in Bihar, India.
