We have provided the detailed IBPS RRB Exam Pattern in this article so go ahead, check it out and prepare accordingly.

IBPS RRB Exam Selection Process

The selection process is different for different posts. Let us explain it in detail-

  • For Office Assistant (Multipurpose)- Preliminary Exam & Mains Exam 
  • For Officer Scale I- Preliminary & Mains Exam and Interview
  • For Officer Scale-II & III- Single Level Written Exam & Interview 

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern

As per the selection procedure provided above, the exam pattern is different for different posts. While there is a single-level examination for officer scale II and III posts, there will be Prelims & Mains exams for assistant and scale-I officers. Candidates can check out the pattern of their respective examinations in the subsequent tables provided below.

1.Office Assistant & Officer Scale-I

Preliminary Exam (Objective)

  • The question asked in the exam will be objective (Multiple-choice type).
  • Marks obtained in this exam will not be considered for calculating the final score.
  • There will be negative marking for each wrong answer.

2. Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer)

Single Level Written Exam:

  • The questions in the exam paper will be multiple-choice objective type.
  • Negative marking is applicable in this exam as per the government norms.
  • Marks obtained in this exam will be considered for the final ranking.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be called for the Interview round.

IBPS RRB Exam Cut off Marks

Cut off marks are the minimum qualifying marks that are mandatory for every candidate to score to qualify the exam. It will be required from every candidate to obtain this minimum score to consider herself/ himself shortlisted for further rounds of the recruitment process.

Mere passing in individual tests may not be sufficient as candidates should also score sufficiently high on Total score in order of merit to be called for Common Interview / Provisional Allotment. 

Final Merit List Preparation-

  • For Office Assistant (Multipurpose)- Only the marks obtained in the main examination will be considered for final merit listing. 
  • For Officers Scale I- Marks obtained in the main exam will be considered to shortlist candidates for interview and final merit listing. 
  • For Officers Scale II and Scale III- Marks obtained in the single level examination will be considered for shortlisting for interview and final merit listing.
