17. Sreeshankar sets national record in mens long jump.
M.Sreeshankar, the 19-year-old, defeated Ankit Sharma’s National and meet record in the men’s long jump in the National Open athletics championships. He recorded a jump to break the meet record of 7.87m a by covering a distance of 8.11m. His previous best was 7.99m at the Federation Cup in March.
18. Pavithra Naveen claimed Pan Tech-Abu Dhabi 83rd State senior championships.
Pavithra Naveen claimed the Pan Tech-Abu Dhabi 83rd State senior championships at the EISA Badminton Academy, at Ettumanoor, Kerala. The unseeded Pavithra defeated Kozhikode’s fifth-seeded N.Aswathy 16-21, 21-16, 21-16 in the women’s final. In men’s final Kozhikode’s unseeded Mohammed Munawar won the title by defeating Ernakulam’s top-seeded M. Shyam Prasad. He defeated Prasad by securing 21-16, 21-16. It is Munawar’s fourth State men’s trophy.
19. India Won Silver in Asian Team Snooker Championship.
India defeated Pakistan at the goal of 2-3 in the final of the Asian Team Snooker Championship. Pankaj Advani and Malkeet Singh represented India while Babar Masih and Mohammad Asif were from the Pakistani side. About Asian Team Snooker Championship It is the premier non-professional snooker tournament in Asia. The event series is sanctioned by the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports and started from 1984.
20. MS Dhoni overtakes Dravid to become India’s 2nd most capped cricketer.
Mahendra Singh become the second most capped player for India in international cricket as he played his 505th match for India in the Super Four of Asia Cup 2018 against Pakistan on September 23. Before Dhoni, Rahul Dravid was the second most capped player for India with 504 caps in international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is the top most capped player for India with a record 664 matches for India.
21. Maana Patel set record in Glenmark 72nd National swimming championship at Kerala.
Maana Patel set a new meet record in the 100m backstroke event in the Glenmark 72nd National swimming championship at the Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Aquatic complex, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She clocked 1:04.33 and smashed her own old record of 1:04.40 which was set in 2015. Kerala’s swimmer Sajan Prakash won his fifth gold by winning the 200m butterfly. He came up with the best Indian performance. He clocked 1:57.73 and broke the existing National record that clocked 1:59.12 in 2017.
22. Ban on Russia by WADA has been lifted.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) lifted a ban on RUSADA, Russia’s anti-doping agency. This paves the way for Russian athletes to return to competition across all sports. WADA made the decision on a condition saying the RUSADA must provide a clear timeline by which WADA must be given access to the former Moscow laboratory data and samples. On failing to do so, WADA will reinstate the ban on RUSADA.
23. New Kabaddi Federation of India (NKFI) launches Indo International Premier Kabaddi League
The league have 8 teams Bengaluru Rhinos, Chennai Cheetahs, Delhi Dumars, Telangana Bulls, Patna Panthers, Haryana Hurricanes, Mumbai Marathas and Kolkata Tigers. Each team will have 2 to 3 international players. NKFI will distribute 20 % of the annual profits from the league to the participating players. 24. Richa Mishra set record in womens 400 m swimming
Richa Mishra, 36-year-old, became the best Indian performance in the women’s 400m Individual Medley on the second day of the Glenmark 72nd National swimming championship at the Dr.B.R.Ambedkar international aquatic complex in Trivandrum, Kerala. Mishra clocked 4:59.17 and became the first Indian woman to breach the five-minute mark. She had previously held the best Indian time of 5:01.08 (set in 2007) and also the meet record (5:02.96, 2009).
