The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has begun a three-day elephant census at Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, located at the junction of the Eastern and Western Ghats in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Spread over 1,411.6 sq km, it was declared a tiger reserve in 2013, promoting a sustainable habitat for tigers and other wildlife. The reserve has the world's largest tiger population, with over 280 tigers, and is home to indigenous tribes such as the Irula and Kurumba.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced that he will step down on May 15 after nearly 20 years as part of a long-planned leadership transition. The Supreme Court has appointed Justice Aniruddha Bose as the Director of the National Judicial Academy (NJAC), Bhopal. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud made this announcement during a program organized in the honor of the retired judge. NJAC was established in 1993. It is an institution funded by the Government of India and operated under the directions of the Supreme Court.
