Passage: Many thousands of years ago all men did all types of work. Each man built his own house and made what furniture he needed and grew all his own food. His wife made all the clothes for the family and cooked food.
However, men very soon found that it was much better to divide the work among them, so that one built houses, another made furniture, and another grew corn, and so on. You can easily see that this was a better plan, because by always doing the same kind of work, you can do it far more quickly and easily. So nowadays all work is divided as much as possible. Even such a tiny thing as a pin is not made by one man, but by a dozen or more, each doing his particular bit of the work. One straightens out the wire, another cuts it into lengths, another sharpens the point, another puts the head on, and so forth. That is to say, work is divided among different people.
