Dear Candidates,
The UPSC CDS exam is one of the most-awaited examinations for those candidates who want to join the Indian Army. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts this exam twice a year, once in January-February and second in August-September, to recruit eligible and medically-fit candidates for various military academies throughout the country.
In this sequence, the commission has released online applications for CDS-II for this year as well to recruit candidates for a total of 344 vacancies. Find the details below -
UPSC CDS II Exam 2020 – Important Details
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Combined Defence Service-II Exam for 2020. The candidates selected through the recruitment will be appointed for various NCC courses in Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA).

- Interested and eligible candidates are requested to submit their application forms as soon as possible.
- The Commission has introduced the facility of withdrawal of application form for those candidates who have changed their mind and do not want to appear for the Examination.

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Age Limit:
- Minimum Age: 20 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years
Only those candidates who are born between 02 July 1997 to 01 July 2001 can apply for these posts.
Application Fee -
- For All Candidates: Rs 200/-
- For SC/ ST/ Female Candidates: Free
Candidates can pay either by depositing cash in any branch of SBI or by using net banking facility of SBI.
Selection Process -
The candidate has to go through a two-stage selection process.
- Written exam
- Interview
Important Points:
- The UPSC will prepare the list of candidates who receive the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination, which is determined by the Commission at its discretion.
- Candidates who have been declared successful in the written examination will be called for the Intelligence and Personality Test in the Service Selection Board (SSB) based on their choice by the respective service headquarters.

How to Apply??
Candidates are required to apply Online using the link https://www.upsconline.nic.in/. Detailed instructions for filling up Online Applications are available on the above-mentioned website.
The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admit Card will be made available on the UPSC website (http://upsc.gov.in) for downloading by candidates.
