UPSC Exam 2021: Notification Released for Civil Service & Indian Forest Service Recruitment!!

Good news for candidates seeking jobs in prestigious positions like IAS, IPS etc through UPSC. Actually, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued a notification for the Civil Service and Indian Forest Service Examination 2021. A total of 822 vacancies are to be filled in various services under this recruitment examination.

Let us know that every year the Civil Services Examination is conducted by UPSC for selection of qualified candidates for Group-A and Group-B posts in various All India Services. Among them are Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Revenue Service, Indian Railway Traffic Service, Indian Railway Personnel Service, Indian Railway Accounts Service, Indian Postal and Wire Accounts Service, Indian Postal Service, Indian Civil Accounts Service, Indian Information Services, Indian Trade Service, etc. are included.

• The online application process has started on UPSC's official website, upsconline.nic.in, on which interested and eligible candidates can apply online.

Important dates related to the exam are as follows - 

Required Eligibility Criteria

Eligible candidates apply only after ensuring the necessary eligibility criteria, which is as follows- 

Upper age relaxation

• SC / ST category will be given 5 years relaxation.
• OBC category will be given a 3-year exemption.
• Ex-servicemen category will be given a relaxation of 3 years.
• 10 years for PWD candidates (13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC / ST).

Selection Process -

The competitive examination consists of two stages: -

• Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
• Mains Examination (Written and Interview / Personality Test)

Exam Pattern:

A. Preliminary examination

• The examination will consist of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.
• Both the question-papers will be of objective type (MCQ) and each paper will be of 2 hours duration.
• General Studies Paper - II of the Civil Service and Indian Forest Service (Prelims) Examination will be a qualifying paper with a minimum qualifying marks of 33%.
• The papers will be set in both Hindi and English.

B. Mains Examination

• The Mains exam will include a written test and an interview test.
• The written examination will consist of 9 papers of traditional essay type, out of which two papers will be qualifying in nature.
• Section II (B) marks obtained for all compulsory papers (Paper-I to Paper-VII) and marks obtained in interview for Personality Test will be counted for ranking.
