Center for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) is an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in India. It operates three R&D laboratories in Pune, Hyderabad and Thrissur, focusing on critical electronic materials. C-MET, Hyderabad, is dedicated to developing advanced electronic and strategic materials. There is a major focus on eco-friendly e-waste recycling technologies to address India's 3.2 million tonnes of electronic waste and promote resource efficiency. C-MET's Center of Excellence on E-waste Management was inaugurated under PPP, leading in recycling technologies for various electronic components.

Recently, Russian astronaut Oleg Kononenko set a world record for the most time spent in space and broke the record of his fellow Russian astronaut Gennady Padalka. Kononenko is 59 years old and has spent 878 days and more than 12 hours in space. Padalka's record was 878 days, 11 hours, 29 minutes and 48 seconds, set during five space missions through 2017. Kononenko works out regularly to combat the physical effects of weightlessness. He has said that he does not feel deprived or isolated, but when he returns to Earth he realizes how much life he missed.

Recently NASA has identified a possible “super-Earth” TOI-715 b, located 137 light years away. This distant planet orbits a small, red star within the conservative habitable zone, which suggests the possibility of liquid water. TOI-715 b is 1.5 times wider than Earth, completes an orbit in just 19 days, and may also have a companion Earth-sized planet. NASA's findings suggest surface water conditions in addition to atmospheric factors. This unprecedented discovery opens the way for further investigation of extraterrestrial life.

NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) recently announced that UPI users can now buy tickets for the Eiffel Tower in Paris. France has become the first European country to accept digital payments from India. For this, NIPL has partnered with Lyra e-commerce of France. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) launched UPI in the year 2016.

REC Limited, a Maharatna enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has been awarded the prestigious Best Green Bond – Corporate Award at The Asset Triple A Awards for Sustainable Finance 2024. REC has received the award for issuing a $750 million USD green bond due in April 2023, which was also the first USD green bond from India.

Justice Ritu Bahri has been appointed as the first woman Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. Governor Lieutenant General (R) Gurmeet Singh administered the oath to Justice Ritu Bahri at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan. He replaced former Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi. In October last year, Justice Ritu Bahri was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

So far, 519 air routes are being operated across the country under the regional level air connectivity scheme (RCS) 'Ude Deshka Aam Nagrik' (UdeDeshkaAamNagrik-UDAN). Under the 'Udaan' scheme, 76 airports including 2 sea airports and 9 heliports are being operated. This scheme was launched in the year 2016.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has presented the Uniform Civil Code in the Assembly. This bill will now be sent further to the Governor. After this bill is passed it will become a law. With this, Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement UCC. The draft of the Uniform Civil Code has been prepared on the basis of the report of Justice Ranjana Desai Committee.

The Ministry of Culture is preparing mapping and documentation of all the villages under the 'Mera Gaon, Meri Dharohar' (MGMD) programme. The National Mission on Cultural Mapping is being run in coordination with Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) under the Ministry of Culture. A web portal on MGMD was also launched on July 27, 2023.
